These terms cover moveabroadmanual.com and the ebook You Can Afford To Retire. Just Not In America., published by New Life Abroad. By buying or reading the book, you agree to what is set out here. It is written in plain English on purpose.
New Life Abroad publishes research and writing about retiring overseas. You can reach us at any time at hello@moveabroadmanual.com. We answer every email.
Payment is handled by Gumroad, which is the seller of record for your purchase. Your card details are entered on Gumroad's checkout and are never seen or stored by us. Gumroad's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment itself, alongside these terms. Your receipt and download link come from Gumroad.
There is nothing physical. Nothing is posted to you.
The book is licensed to you for your own personal use. You may read it on any device you own, print a copy for yourself, and share it with your spouse or partner in your household.
You may not resell it, republish it, post it on a file-sharing site, or distribute it to people outside your household. A great deal of work went into the research and that is how it stays worth doing.
This is the most important thing on this page, so it is not buried at the bottom.
The book is educational. It is not legal, tax, immigration, medical or financial advice, and the author is not a lawyer, an accountant, a financial adviser or a doctor. It does not create any professional relationship between you and us.
Visa rules, tax law, property law and healthcare systems differ by country, change without notice, and are applied differently by different officials. Before you act on anything in this book — particularly anything involving residency, buying property, taxes, moving money or your healthcare — take advice from a qualified professional licensed in the country concerned. The book tells you which kind of professional you need and what to ask them.
Every figure in the book carries a source and the month it was checked. That date is there so you can see how old a number is and check it yourself when the decision is a big one. On the big ones, check it yourself anyway.
Prices move. Exchange rates move fastest of all. Residency income thresholds are revised by governments, sometimes sharply and sometimes with little notice. Where a source is a company that sells relocation services, the book says so and treats its figures as the optimistic end of the range.
We do not promise that you will be able to retire abroad, that you will qualify for residency anywhere, or that you will spend any particular amount. Those depend on your income, your health, your circumstances and the rules in force when you apply. Your results will differ from any example in the book.
Seven days, no questions asked. The full policy is on the refunds page.
If you find a figure in the book that is incorrect, write to us at hello@moveabroadmanual.com. We will check it, correct it in the next edition, and credit you.
We take care with the research, but we cannot be responsible for decisions you make or losses you suffer as a result of acting on the book — including money spent on travel, legal fees, property or relocation. Our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the book. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top of this page. Changes apply from the date they are posted.
